Enter Your Guess!

As of right now, only 4 people have entered their guess on the ExpectNet online baby pool. I wonder if only 4 people are reading our blog???
We are having an ultrasound Sunday morning, and it may be possible to see the gender. Please enter your guess before we find out if Peanut is a boy or a girl!

12-Week Doctor Appointment

Today Brandon went with me to my second OB appointment. Overall, it was fairly uneventful. We talked to the doctor about trying for a VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Cesarean) and got the okay. In fact, the doctor highly recommended it and said I was the best candidate for it that he's seen in a while. That was good news! I'm fully aware that you cannot determine how the birth is going to go until the actual day, but I want recovery to be as easy as possible since this time I'll be chasing a 2-year old around, too.
And, best of all ~ heartbeat
The doctor was able detect the baby's heartbeat with the doppler and even caught the sounds of the baby splashing around.
Things are going well, and we couldn't be happier.
My friend George is going to do an ultrasound for me this weekend. We're hoping to find a babysitter for Kaitlin so Brandon can go too. I will be about 13 weeks and *sometimes* it's possible to see the gender this early. It will all depend on how stubborn the baby is, so wish us luck!!! I'm sure I will have some pictures to post, so stay tuned!

Network + Certification

For the last month or so, Brandon's brain has been stuck on GEEK mode. He's been taking classes and studying for his Network + Certification.

Today was the big day. He went in to take the test at 10am and PASSED! We are so proud of him. The certification doesn't mean an instant raise or anything, but he's looking to the future which might mean an extra step ahead of the competition.

To celebrate this accomplishment, we went to dinner at Texas Roadhouse and bought a new LCD TV. I thought a new TV would give Brandon something new to occupy his time now that the stress of the test is over. Plus, we've been meaning to buy one for quite some time now.

But, like I said, we're all very proud of Brandon. This is a big accomplishment that will open doors for him. Way to go, Brandon!!!

Upromise - DO IT!

If someone was offering you money, and all you had to do was ask for it, would you?

Well, this website I found is doing just that! It's called Upromise.

www.upromise.com

If you are not signed up, you MUST sign up today!

Basically, it's a college savings program. You sign up by entering your credit card number and it automatically tracks your qualifying purchases for you. You can designate who you would like your college fund to go to. You can allocate your earnings to anyone at any percentage, and you can change it at anytime. The only catch is that whatever is earned through this program must be used for some college-related expense. (But, is that really a catch?!)

It's definitely not a get rich quick scheme, as we've been doing it for almost a year and have earned about $40. But, that's $40 that we didn't have to do anything for! Basically everytime we make a qualifying purchase, it sends me an email saying "You've earned $$$ by eating at Bennigan's!"

Some restaurants will reward you with 8% of your purchase! Just going out to dinner costs about $30. If we get 8% of that back, that's $2.40 for Kaitlin's college. And, all we had to do was eat!!

If you EVER shop online at Old Navy, Kohls, Ebay, Zappos, Target, or Gap, you can earn about 2-5% of your purchase! You can even earn rewards for shoping in-store at stores like Bed Bath and Beyond, Eddie Bauer, GNC, and Sharper Image. There are many restaurants that offer rewards, too. In our area, most are little mom and pop places, but if you go to the website you can enter your zip code and see what is available. You can earn rewards for anything from buying flowers to booking a rental car to doing your taxes.

Really, I would not lead my friends and family astray. Please believe me when I say this is a good deal. It's free money, and it's out there for the taking. I am not saying that you should contribute your reward dollars to Kaitlin (although they would be very much appreciated!) but there is no reason not to be getting this FREE money. If anything, just sign yourself up and take a college course. Maybe Upromise can help you buy the book?

Sign up today before you make one more purchase!!!

How to Eat an Ice Cream Cone

We took Kaitlin to Red Robin last night! To our surprise - it was Kid's Night! If you are wondering what Kid's Night entails, it's the big Red Robin bird going from table to table waving at all the kids followed by an ice cream cone after dinner.

As usual, our little food-waster didn't eat much of her dinner, but we let her enjoy her ice cream cone anyways. She actually did really well holding the cone and keeping the mess to a minimum. Of course, Daddy was right there willing to lick up any ice cream that had the potential of going astray....

After watching Kaitlin eat her ice cream, I'm convinced that she could teach How to Eat Ice Cream 101.

For example, sometimes it's fun to eat it sideways:

Sometimes it's fun to just bite right into the cone:

Sometimes it's fun to eat it with your fingers:

Sometimes it's fun to enjoy it with your eyes closed:

And sometimes it's fun to share your ice cream with friends:

We had so much fun watching Kaitlin eat her ice cream! And, she was in a really great mood last night, so that meant no tantrums and a hassle-free dinner. Ah, the joys of parenthood! ♥
